Thierry Soudee, along with Remy Delattre and Gerard Frantz, originally developed the BluePlanner solution starting in 2004, in collaboration with business units of Danone in the United Kingdom. The tool covered Sales Planning and Trade Promotion Management and progressively evolved through a few iterations in the next couple of years. Following that initial success, Thierry founded UpClear in 2007 with the intent to expand the solution and take it to broader Consumer Goods markets.
The system was entirely rebuilt as a full Web-based SaaS software. The technical architecture was made scalable and highly configurable to address the needs of wider markets and requirements. UpClear started marketing and commercializing the new BluePlanner software in 2008. The first American client was the King Arthur Flour company in 2008, and a few others were onboarded in 2009 and 2010.
With subscription revenue coming, UpClear went on to build its Client Service team in its New York and London offices, and expanded its client base in the US and in European countries. The flexible SaaS platform made it possible to deploy rapidly and support remotely. In 2013 UpClear established a third office in Hong-Kong to support deployments in Indonesia and China.
In 2014 UpClear efforts were rewarded with a first appearance on the Inc 5000 listing of fastest growing private companies. The growth continued, and UpClear will go on to maintain that presence for the 7 following years.
In 2018, UpClear opened an office in Paris to locate the core of its Engineering team. It also added satellite offices in Sydney, Mexico City, and Japan to service local clients. In 2020, UpClear partners with 70+ Consumer Goods clients in 25 countries across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
BluePlanner is based on the Microsoft .NET platform, and hosted on Microsoft Azure cloud servers in data centers in North America, Western-Europe and East-Asia.
