Founded by the Baker family, originally as a butcher shop in Rugby, Warwickshire, it was under the second generation of Baker’s that it first applied an in-depth knowledge of meat to the development of the original Butcher’s tripe recipe food for dogs, which became an instant success when it went on sale in 1987. Since then, the passion and devotion of its people have helped the business to extend and enhance its range of food for dogs and cats.

How UpClear Became Part of the Pack

UpClear BluePlanner Revenue Management platform has been selected after a long and thorough process which lasted over 6 months with multiple sessions which involved all of the Butcher’s Pet Care key stakeholders across Finance, Sales, Supply Chain and IT.

UpClear BluePlanner was selected because of its ease of use, workflow capabilities and the ability to cover end to end commercial as well financial processes including invoice/deductions and Sell Out based accruals management.

The deployment of UpClear BluePlanner will help Butcher’s Pet Care deliver three main business objectives defined at the beginning of the initiative: 

  • Improve Efficiency around Trade Promotions Governance, support the approval workflow through automated rules and notifications, reduce administrative tasks and manual errors leading to better control and increased efficiency 
  • Make Sound decisions about promotions. By establishing BluePlanner as the “one stop shop” for Trade Promotions Management and consolidating into one place promotions, accruals and related payments, Butcher’s Pet Care is seeking to improve the business ability to easily identify profitable from margin dilutive promotions and inform plans accordingly 
  • Make faster decisions about promotions, reduce the lead time for promotions proposed to channel partners and hence capitalize on those opportunities
