Every CPG company that has ever onboarded a new planning or analytics system has hit the same wall: ERP data is defined differently than retail data and distributor data.  Customer and product hierarchies needed for planning in the sales organization are different than what's need in Supply Chain or Finance.  

Little attention has been given to defining data standards in gross-to-net revenue management as an industry. There's no shared playbook for how CPG brands should structure their customer & product hierarchies, align manufacturer, distributor, and retailer data.  Every company reinvents the wheel, usually under pressure and when there’s already an urgent issue
