The Promotion Optimization Institute brings together manufacturers, retailers, solution providers, analysts, academics, and other industry leaders to advance the industry for profitable growth. The announcement of the Best-in-Class distinctions follows their extensive vendor capability evaluations, including UpClear’s platform: BluePlanner.
The term “EPx” is used to describe business systems used by Consumer Goods manufacturers in four main categories: Trade Promotion Management (TPM), Trade Promotion Optimization (TPO), Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and Revenue Growth Management (RGM). “TPx,” another phase used in the report, is generally used to describe the combination of TPM, pre-post ROI, and what-if scenario planning.

POI defines “Tier 1” as Consumer Goods Manufacturers with revenue over $1B, “Tier 2” as revenue between $250M and $1B, and Tier 3 as companies with revenue up to $250M. This award recognizes platforms for TPM and TPO (i.e. “TPx”) that stand out because their utilization of templatized process, streamlined capabilities, and configuration that facilitates simplicity and quick implementations for companies in these tiers and/or geographies.
RGM Tier 2 & 3 Organizations &/or Other Tier 1 International Geos
Using the aforementioned tier definitions, this award identifies vendors with RGM solutions focused on the needs of Consumer Goods companies in in these tiers and/or geographies that can be deployed quickly. Using templating and configuration, these RGM capabilities are typically focused on robust pricing and promotion optimization needs. As described by POI, “the sweet spot here is ‘solid, just enough’ RGM capabilities that are fast to deploy.”
